ARMENIA RECEIVES 12 BIG BUSES FROM FRANCE

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 13. ARMINFO. Part of the micro-buses used in Yerevan will be replaced by a new lot of buses received from Lyons – 12 buses.

The buses will be used on the overloaded routes. The buses will replace unlicensed cars to ensure more secure and timely traffic and will be controlled by the municipality. There are almost 2,500 micro-buses in Yerevan at present. Even if their number is halved the city will need almost 500 bigger buses. Earlier the municipality received 10 decade-old French buses, which were thoroughly inspected and found to be able to serve the city for one more decade.

Yerevan is to receive some 200 Lyonese buses, 40 ones a year. In the Soviet times Yerevan had 800 buses. The municipality is presently negotiating with some foreign companies for increasing Yerevan’s bus fleet.
