YEREVAN, OCTOBER.21. ARMINFO. Prosecutor General’s Office investigates details concerning the attack on the house of Armenian National Assembly’s deputy, Hakob Hakobyan (from Echmiadzin).
As ARMINFO learnt from the head of press-service, Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia Gurgen Ambaryan, last Sunday at about 8p.m. several people headed by the Director of “ArmRosGazprom”‘s filial in Echmiadzin, Sashik Mkrtchyan, initiated a range of hooliganism in “Zvartnots” complex (belonging to H. Hakobyan), illegally using weapon. Afterwards S. Mkrtchyan accompanied by his people arrived at the scene, where hooliganism and shootings were continued. The gathered citizens were making an attempt to stop the hooligans. As a result, S. Mkrtchyan and his friends got seriously injured and were taken to hospital. A suit is brought against the hooligans on Article 235.1 (illegal carrying of weapon) and on Article 258.4 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Armenia. According to the source, no one has been detained on this case.
It should be noted that the Prosecutor General conducts one more case related to the Deputy of Armenian National Assembly. According to the Deputy’s application, at the night of October 2, 2004, one more attack was made on his house in Echmiadzin. The unknown disguised in masks, rushed into the house and started firing. The unknown hid themselves only after the deputy started counter shooting. In this case, too, the attackers first visited “Zvartnots”, wherefrom they found out the deputy’s home address. A suit is brought to court on this case, too. No one has been detained.
