CELEBRATIONS OF 2,786TH BIRTHDAY OF YEREVAN STARTING TODAY

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 13. ARMINFO. The celebrations of the 2,786th birthday of Yerevan are starting in the Armenian capital today.

The festivities will start at Yerevan’s Municipality with the first-time performance of Yerevan’s anthem “Erebuni-Yerevan” written by composer Edgar Hovhannissyan and poet Paruyr Sevak and the demonstration of the capital’s flag – a white canvass with a lion-king in the center surrounded by 12 small triangles symbolizing the 12 historical capitals of Armenia.

Planned for Thursday are the Open Door Day at the capital’s medical institutions, the Yerevan mayor’s visit of municipal facilities, the “Miss Armenia 2004” competition at the National Opera.

Friday the mayor and the heads of the Yerevan communities will visit the “Yerablur” Memorial Complex and will meet the parents of Karabakh liberators.

Also on the agenda are the competition “Yerevan in My Songs,” the photo exhibition “Yerevan As Seen By Me,” a concert of Armenian pop starts and many other events to be held every day from 2 to 7 pm.

The celebrations will be completed with a gala at the “Hrazdan” stadium.

70 mln AMD has been allocated for the celebrations.
