GOLDEN APRICOT FILM FESTIVAL TO BE HELD EVERY YEAR DURING APRICOT RIPENING PERIOD

YEREVAN, JULY 7. ARMINFO. The Golden Apricot international film festival will be held every year when apricots are ripening in Armenia, says the chairman of the festival organizational committee Haroutyun Khachatryan.

75 film makers of Armenian origin from 20 countries have taken part in this $100,000 project.

The best film award has been given to Atom Egoyan for his Ararat.

The best short films are Y.U.L. by Comes Chahbazyan (Belgium), Je M’Appelle by Stephanie Elmadjian (France).

The best documentaries are I Died In Childhood by Georgy Parajanov (Russia), Intimate Town by Kristiina Davidjants (Estonia), Tale About Pegasus by Armen Khachatryan (Armenia).

The best animation films are Fame by David Sahakyants (Armenia), Three Poets and Charents by Naira Muradyan (Armenia) and Ligne de Vie by Serge Avedikyan (France).

In Hello It’s Me nomination awarded were young film directors Armen Mkrtchyan (Armenia) for SOS I-III, Vardan Hakobyan (Russia) for Chizhik and Diana Kardumyan (Armenia) for Exercise. Chizhik also got the audience sympathy award.

Also on festival program were the restrospectives Sergey Parajanov-80, Charles Aznavour-80 and Armenian Cinema-80 and Yerevan Premieres – demonstration of new Russian, Swedish, german, Bulgarian and Italian movies.
