armenpress: 5TH MEETING OF ARMENIA-EU COMMITTEE OPENS IN BRUSSELS

YEREVAN, JUNE 4. ARMINFO. The 5th meeting of Armenia-EU Committee is opening in Brussels today.

An Armenian delegation led by Trade and Economic Development Minister Karen Tchshmarityan is taking part in the meeting. Discussed will be issues of regional and bilateral cooperation in economy and foreign policy, macroeconomic issues, legislative reforms, tax and customs policies.

The committee was set up under Partnership and Cooperation Agreement signed by EU and Armenia in 1998.

EU is the biggest trade-economic partner of Armenia. In 2003 Armenia’s trade turnover with EU countries totalled $631.1 mln. In Jan-Apr 2004 the index grew 39.1% totalling $231.4 mln.
