Yerevan, May 27. /Mediamax/. Armenian President Robert Kocharian said in Yerevan today that “Armenia will continue its full integration into the family of democratic countries, which demands long and consecutive work”.

Robert Kocharian said this at the meeting with the Ambassadors of foreign countries in Armenia, the residences of which are situated outside Yerevan, Mediamax reports.

“Attaching special importance to Armenia’s close cooperation with the European and other international organizations, we think that our country should march in step with the modern world,” Robert Kocharian noted. He said that the devotion to the principle of complementarity, which lied in the base of Armenia’s foreign policy, gave serious results.

Speaking about the economic situation in the country, Armenian President said that the first stage of reforms is finished, and the stable pace of economic growth and good macroeconomic figures which preserve in the course of the last several years testify to this. Despite this, Armenian President said, part of Armenia’s population lives on the verge of poverty, and the solution of this problem is the priority task of the Armenian government.

Robert Kocharian said that he hailed the idea of the annual gathering of non-resident Ambassadors in Yerevan. According to him, such regular meetings with diplomats, who do not live on the territory of Armenia, “will allow us having a better idea of the processes going on in the country.”
