Montreal, Canada March 15 – The Ad Hoc Armenian Committee in Support of the Tibet China Negotiations officially launched its campaign at a public and media event on Friday the 12th of March, 2004. The official letter signed by Mr. Sarkis Assadourian, MP was read to the audience.
“We ask that all Armenians join Mr. Assadourian to support this initiative”, says Mr. Azad Chichmanian, a member of the committee, “as a nation who has suffered genocide, we must show solidarity with the Tibetan people, whose whole existence is now in question.”
Mr. Thubten Samdup, president of the Canada Tibet Committee, thanked the Armenian community for their unique initiative and stressed the importance of the contribution of every single individual. “The Tibetans no longer feel alone in their struggle for justice” he said.
The Ad Hoc Armenian Committee in Support of the Tibet China Negotiations urges all Canadians of Armenian origin as well as their friends to write to their MPs to sign the petition letter urging the Prime Minister to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
