YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 27, ARMENPRESS: According to the finalized results of 2001 population census, Armenia’s permanent population was 3,213,000, of which 64.3 percent were urban residents. Density of population was 108 people for 1 square km. These figures were unveiled today by the chief of national statistical committee, Stepan Mnatsakanian, who said that one third of the overall population or 53.3 percent of urban population, 1,103,000 people were in the capital city of Yerevan, in which population density was 4,861 people for 1 square km.
Of the permanent residents, 1,540,000 were males and 1,671,000 females.
