YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 24. ARMINFO. On February 23, at the “Caritas Novrut” clinics, Massachusetts, USA, the world-famous organist of Armenian descent Perch Zhamkochian died, the “Yerkir” newspaper reports.

The office is to be held on February 28, at Saint Cross Church in Belmont. The famous musician will be buried in Canton. Perch Zhamkochian was born into the family of Shakhnaz and Nazaret Zhamkochians in Boston. At the age of 24, he gave his first concert at the Symphony Hall in Boston. He performed in many countries. Zhamkochian was the first American organist to make a trip of the Soviet Union in 1965. The “New York times” included the records of two of his concerts among the 50 best records of all times. Perch Zhamkochian gave his last concert in Italy, in 2003. The famous musician receives awards from Cardinal Aghajanian, Catholicos of All Armenians Vazghen I, Armenian National Academy of Sciences, “Mkhitaryan” congregation, in Venice, as well as from the Armenian President. In 1970, Perch Zhamkochian founded the “Komitas” musical fund.
