YEREVAN, DECEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS: A former Armenian wrestler, Armen Nazarian, was recognized the second best athlete of Bulgaria in 2003, coming next after Yordan Yovchev, despite hopes that he would be named number 1 sportsman of his new home country.
Armen Nazarian is so far the only Armenian athlete, after the country became independent, to have won the sole Olympic golden medal in Atlanta, after which he moved to Bulgaria for permanent residence and winning another gold medal for it in Sydney. He also won a gold medal for Bulgaria in 2003 world championship.
Nazarain was reported to voice his dissatisfaction but said that he would win another gold medal in Athens.
