arminfo: STORY OF SCANDAL OVER ARMENIA-GREECE EURO 2004 QUALIFICATION MATCH NOT OVER YET

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24. ARMINFO. The story of the scandal over the
Armenia-Greece EURO 2004 qualification match when the Greeks reportedly tried to buy
victory from the Armenians for $1 mln is not over yet, says the president of Armenia’s
Football Federation Ruben Hayrapetyan.

To remind, before the match Hayrapetyan received a phone call from Yervand
Sukiassyan, former player of the Armenian national team, presently football agent in
Greece, who (as he said on the instruction of the president of the Greek FF) offered $1
mln to Hayrapetyan for Armenia’s defeat. The Greek FF called Hayrapetyan’s words “a
shameless lie” and demanded that the UEFA hold a detailed inquiry into the case. The
UEFA found out that no bribery attempts were made by the Greek side.

“Nevertheless, they called me 3 days ago and asked to send the recording of my phone
talk with Sukiassyan.” “I guess the story is not over yet.”-
