armenpress: U.S. EMBASSY IN ARMENIA CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK 2003

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS: The U.S. Embassy in Armenia announced today it has organized a number of events to celebrate International Education Week November 17-21. International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Department of Education to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and share experiences in the United States.

In observance of the International Education Week, the U.S. Embassy in Armenia is promoting international education by organizing international Education Week that will open with an Online Essay Competition on International Education for high school and university students on Monday, November 17. Interested individuals can register at any of the eleven Internet Access and Training program sites, administered by IREX in Armenia.

On Tuesday, November 18 the U.S. Ambassador will be conducting an online chat with students and teachers from twelve secondary schools in nine different regions who participate in the Armenia School Connectivity Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State.

A debate will be held on the pros and cons of international education between two teams of students from Bryusov State Linguistic University and Yerevan State University on Wednesday, November 19. The debate will be held at 3.00 pm at the AUA Business Center. The public is invited to attend and to participate with their questions.

A digital Video Conference will be organized for students from Bryusov State Linguistic University with an expert on U.S. Foreign Policy in the Caucasus on Thursday, November 20.

An award ceremony will be held to honor the winners and participants of the events on Friday, November 21.
