arminfo: SECRETARIES OF ARMENIA´S AND RUSSIA´S SECURITY COUNCILS SIGNED PLAN OF COOPERATION IN 2004

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6. ARMINFO. The secretaries of Armenia’s and Russia’s security councils Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Rushaylo signed today the plan of cooperation in 2004.

Commenting on his four-day visit to Armenia Rushaylo said that it will promote the development of bilateral relations. Although Armenia and Russia have no common borders they have common goals and task for ensuring security and stability in the Caucasus. “Our task is to deepen our partnership. Here we are following the tune set by our presidents.” “My talks with the Armenian leadership has proved once again that both countries are resolved to further strengthen their relations,” Rushaylo said.

He noted that the modern threats and challenges require more active interaction. The Caucasian cooperation must be intensified both on the councils’ level and in the framework of the Caucasian Four. There are a number of deficiencies here to overcome which the four is planning to meet in early 2004. “That was the Georgians’ initiative. The venue will be determined later.”

In his turn Sargsyan said that the plan signed today envisages exchange of visits, conduct of consultations and discussion of issues of mutual concern.

The sides have also signed a protocol summing up the results of Rushaylo’s visit and his talks with Sargsyan.
