asbarez: Painter Martiros Donates Generously to Armenia Fund Telethon

GLENDALE–The Armenia Fund announced on Tuesday that internationally celebrated painter Martiros Manoukian has donated $50,000 in support of the Armenia Fund’s Thanksgiving Day Telethon to be held on November 27. The artist’s donation is the greatest so far this year in the days leading up to the Telethon.

Manoukian, now living in the United States, is one of few elite Armenian artists whose thousands of originals have sold worldwide, and is one of the most successful and saleable artists in Japan, United States, and Europe. He has participated in numerous international exhibits and has received many honors and awards.

“Martiros’s generous donation is in recognition of the importance of the work that Armenia Fund does in Armenia and Artsakh,” said Fund chairman Tom Alexanian. “This donation will help us get closer to one of our major goals which is the completion of the North-South Highway in Artsakh.”

One of Armenia Fund’s key projects is the construction of the North-South highway in Artsakh (Mountainous Karabagh Republic). The highway, to stretch 170 kilometers from Martakert to Hadrout, will provide a much needed communication link, connecting more than one hundred towns and villages with the capital Stepanakert, as well as the outside world.
