YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS: The Applied Researches and Agri-Business Fund, funded by the government of the USA is implementing a project called Production of Wall-Nut and Wall-Nut Products with the aim of providing marketing services to farmers and other entities engaged in this business. According to 2002 data, there were 171,412 wall-nut tress across Armenia, which yield annually more than 6,000 tons of wall-nuts, which the Fund’s experts say is enough to start their industrial production.
Jams and fruit butters prepared from wall-nut, as well as the wall-nuts themselves have a big demand outside Armenia. Armenian experts have also developed a natural paint from the walnut shell, which they say is ecologically pure. The Fund’s experts are going to make a study of available resources in all regions in which the tree grows to substantiate volumes of walnut production’s expansion.
