YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22. ARMINFO. Armenian President Robert Kocharyan is satisfied with the quality of restoration works in the Republican Square in Yerevan, which were carried out on the funds of the Lincy Foundation. Robert Kocharyan expressed his satisfaction during the solemn opening of the head square of Yerevan yesterday.
He said that it remains only to carry out the lighting of the buildings in the square, which will be completed by Dec 1, 2003. Robert Kocharyan is sure that the Republican Square will become one of the most beautiful squares in the world after the works are compeleted. He congratulated the builders on the successful completion of construction works, simultaneously presenting the prospects of implementation of such programs. Robert Kocharyan participated in the festive refreshments.
In his turn, Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan highly appreciated the quality of the restoration works, calling the square’s opening symbolic to the celebration of the 12th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence. He said that the Armenian people passed a difficult way towards independence and a strong basis for further development of the country has been created. “We must set a task of making Armenia qualitatively unrecognizable, and I am sure that we shall reach this goal,” Oskanyan said, As regards implementation of such program in future, the minister said that at the given stage it is important that the work have been completed timely and qualitatively, and it remains for the Lincy Foundation’s leadership to decide whether the program will be continued or not.
