YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS: Fadey Sarkisian, the president of the National Academy of Sciences, told a news conference today that around 110 experts in Armenian studies and linguists from USA, Italy, Spain, France , Russia, Turkey and other countries have confirmed their participation in the first international conference on Armenian studies, scheduled to start September 15 and run up to September 20.
The conference will focus on Armenian history, philology, philosophy, culture, and religion.
Sessions will be at the National Academy of Sciences, Yerevan State University, and the Madenataran Institute of Old Manuscripts. Heads of Armenian Studies organization are due to meet on September 20 to examine the coordination of various Armenian studies activities. Sarkisian said funds for holding the conference were donated by Armenian Church, the Union of Russian Armenians, the National Foundation of Advanced Technologies. He regretted that few Armenian businessmen responded to their request for help.
