MOSCOW, JULY 24, ARMENPRESS: Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Gholam Reza Shafei confirmed Wednesday that his country was adamant on construction the ‘North-South Corridor’ and expressed hope that other signatories to the agreement will also do their outmost in expansion of related infrastructure facilities.
He was quoted by Irna news agency as saying that Russia understands the importance of the corridor in boosting trade between the regional states. Shafei also called on Armenia and Azerbaijan and their neighbors to resolve the ‘Karabagh’ issue, “hence removing the hurdles on the way of rail road transportation and agreement by Russian officials to let the Iranian-registered trucks to travel on the northern Caucuses.”
