armenpress: ARMENIAN SCULPTOR WINS FIRST PRIZE AT RAVENNA BIENNALE

YEREVAN, JULY 3, ARMENPRESS: The jury of an influential international biennial festival in the Italian Ravenna picked up an Armenian sculptor Zareh Shahbazian to award the first prize for his sculpture patterned as a pre-pagan monument. Shahbazian shared the first prize with another sculptor from Germany, Karsten Tommer. Another Armenian sculptor, Suren Malkhasian, was awarded the bronze medal.

Garegin Davtian, who was heading the seven-member Armenian delegation to Italy, said the 14-th biennial festival in Ravenna was somewhat politicized as the participants were offered to present works dedicated to the three major religions of the Europe.
