panarmenian: NEAR FUTURE TURKEY NOT LIKELY TO CHANGE ITS POSITION REGARDING ARMENIA UNDER US PRESSURE, ARMENIAN AMBASSADOR CONSIDERS

The Turkish government in the near future will hardly change its position on the issue of improving relations with Armenia. Such an opinion was advanced to “Mediamax” agency by Armenian ambassador to the US Arman Kirakosian. In his words, “the recent statement of the Turkish foreign minister concerning the recognition of the Turkish territorial integrity by Armenia became the regular graphic evidence of the position of the present Turkish government”. The diplomat informed that immediately after September 11, 2001 in the framework of the antiterrorist movement Armenia, offered the US government to consider with Turkey the issue of opening the railway Kars–Gyumri section, “which could not only connect Europe with Central Asia and Afghanistan but also contribute to the development of regional cooperation”. Despite the positive comments of the US administration, during the past two years the things weren’t brought to moving”, – A. Kirakosian emphasized.
