azg: AUSTRALIAN ARMENIAN COMMUNITY RAISES $100,000 FOR NAGORNO KARABAGH HIGHWAY

The Australian branch of pan-Armenian Hayastan Fund has collected about US $100,000 at a fundraising telethon, broadcast by local Armenian TV station and radio from April 2 to April 7, Armenpress said.

The Fund said today all Australian-Armenian organizations have made donations, which will be used for continuation of construction of South-North highway in Nagorno Karabagh. The Australian community has decided to hold another fundraising campaign in Melbourne in June.

Two clinics and a kindergarten were built in Armenian Vanadzor on money raised by the community last year, as well as a bridge over the border river of Arax separating Armenia from Iran.
