arminfo: AGAIN RUSSIA CLOSES ITS AIR SPACE FOR ARMENIAN AIRLINES COMPANY

APRIL 7. Once again Russia has closed its air space for the planes of the Armenian Airlines company (AA).

The AA’s press service told ARMINFO that the decision was made in connection with AA’s $2 mln debt to the Russian Air Navigation company. On Saturday AA was forced to cancel 7 flights to Russia. However, next day the flights were resumed though the problem of debts remains open.

To remind, for the first time Russia closed its air space in Jan 2003. Then AA paid the Russian company $200,000 and pledged to repay the remainder shortly. However, the company’s financial state did not allow it to fulfill the promise.

To remind, recently the Armenian government decided to give the Russian company Siberia the right to exploit most of AA’s planes. The government expects Siberya to repay the debt as well.
