The Ministry of National Education of Turkey puts in effect a
Resolution on teaching the subject of the Genocide of Armenians, Pont
Greeks and Syrians at the local educational establishments.

According to the Turkish Mass Media, 110 teachers underwent special
training in Ankara and will teach the pupils of regional schools. A
specially published book “Several Questions of the Period of Ottoman
Empire and Their Response in Our Days” by Dr. Professor Yavuz Ercan,
specialist in Armenians serves as a text-book.

Under the project, young Turks receive information on the “Armenian
Cause” already at pre-school facilities. The pupils of the 5th form
under the subject “Public Knowledge” are taught “knowledge concerning
the idea of the Genocide of Armenians” and the “state of Armenians in
Turkey in conformity with the Lausanne Agreement.” The pupils of the
7th form already receive explanations on the reasons of emergence of
the issue of Armenian’s Genocide in the agenda, in particular, the
“criminal goals” of the ASALA organization. While, the pupils of
secondary educational establishments receive more detailed information
on this subject, under the subjects “History” and “History of
Revolution in the Turkish Republic and Kamalism.”

Besides, according to the source, a seminar for teachers was held in
Antalya dedicated to the Armenian Genocide. The participants presented
their prepared materials on Television and Radio. In particular, the
specialists in history and public knowledge of Turkish regions
prepared a number of special subjects for this purpose: “The Armenian
Cause in the period of constitutional government,” “General
information on the Armenian Cause,” “World War I and Armenians” and
“Armenian-Turkish historical relations and the Motherland of
Armenians.”
