NOVEMBER 7. Armenia has begun issuing visas electronically, on line, becoming only the second country in the world to do so. On October 31, the first day of operation of this innovative program, seven applicants – one from Germany and six from the US – applied on-line to receive tourist visas to Armenia. Anyone around the world with access to a computer may apply for a visa online, submit a fee by credit card, and receive a response within two working days. The electronically received visa will be honored immediately at Yerevan’s Zvartnots Airport. After a trial run there, the service will be expanded to include Armenia’s borders with Georgia and Iran as well.
