LOS ANGELES, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS: Armenian ambassador to the USA Arman Kirakosian said the volume of Armenian exports to the USA increased by 43 percent in 2001. The biggest portion of Armenian exports to America go to California which hosts the biggest Armenian community across the country.

The ambassador was quoted by the Voice of America as saying that the Expo of Armenia-made products held in Glendale, California, late last month was a very important event for pushing ahead more Armenian exports to the USA.

“California is a very important market for Armenia, because, in the first place, of a big Armenian community. However, we should do more to expand the geography of Armenian exports in America,” he said.

That was the second Expo of Armenian goods in Glendale, the first was held in 2001. It is supposed to a traditional and annual event .

“Growing of Armenian exports means there is an upturn in the Armenia economy,” the ambassador said.

In a reference to a recurrent meeting of US-Armenia Economic Task Force in Washington Kirakosian said it was another evidence of Armenia’s achievements in the development of US-Armenian economic ties.

He also commended the efforts of the Armenian lobbying organizations in California which pressed for a decision by local legislation body to open a California Trade Office in Armenia. The decision was enforced recently by California governor.
