YEREVAN, AUGUST 30, ARMENPRESS: Some 40 museums, theatres and other cultural establishments are involved in a major repair project that started on $17.5 million, made available by a US-based Lincy Foundation.
Gagik Martirosian, chief of an office coordinating the implementation of this project told Armenpress that the repair ofmuseums, hosting the works of famous Armenian painters Martiros Saryan and Yervand Kochar is already over. Repair in two other museums that contain the works of poet Yeghishe Charents and world famous film director Sergey Parajanov are nearing completion.
By the end of the year the depository of old manuscripts Matenadaran, the National Picture Gallery, Hovanes Tumanian Puppets Theater, the Big Hall of Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Komitas Musical Museum, the Children’s Picture Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Opera and Ballet Theater and others will be repaired.
The Opera building will have a new boiling house that will also provide central heating to other nearby residential buildings.
