CNA: ARMENIA AND TURKEY SHOULD ESTABLISH DIPLOMATIC AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS, ARMENIAN PRIME MINISTER SAID

YEREVAN, JULY 31, 2002.(CNA): “Armenia and Turkey should establish diplomatic and economic relations, Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Margarian said. However, the Armenian official added that “they should be based on the mutual interests during bilateral discussions aimed at finding new ways for settling the current problems and disagreements and not on the basis of preconditions”. In this light opening of the Armenia-Turkish border is beneficial for the both states, the Prime Minister thinks, for it will increase the investment interest in the economy of the South Caucasus where global regional projects will be implemented

According to the experts of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Armenia will double the export and increase the trade deficit in half if the economic blockade against it is lifted.
