azg: PROMINENT JURIST COMMITS SUICIDE

The news came early in the morning that a prominent Armenian expert in law Vladimir Nazarian had committed a suicide. Armenian prosecutor’s office said that Nazarian’s body was found hanging from a landing in his apartment by his daughter who is living in the same apartment.

The police said Nazarian left a note saying that no one must be blamed for his death. “I have revealed that I have lost the ability to think profoundly. No one is guilty of my death and there are no political motives behind it,” he wrote in the note asking his few true friends to support his daughter.

Vladimir Nazarian was born in 1932, in 1989-1990 he was Armenia’s chief prosecutor, he also held several other high positions and was the author of the acting Constitution. He was chief of legal service in the Armenian parliament from 1995 to 2001 and was also a consultant to Armenian Constitution Court. He also drafted Civil Code and was author of dozens of works. He was a respected jurist both in Armenia and outside it. He was lecturing for many years at Yerevan State University Law Department.
