YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)-The secretary-general of UNESCO Koishiro Matsuara, who recently visited Armenia, announced Tuesday that 2003 will be declared the year of Aram Khachatourian.
Chairman of Armenia’s culture ministry’s art department Ramik Abrahamian said that the ministry will be proposing a full-fledged series of programs and present it to UNESCO. Among the plans by the cultural ministry are a festival devoted to Khachatourian’s classical works and the re-staging of the Spartacus opera.
