Armenian president urges Bush not to lift ban on US aid to Azeri government

Armenian President Robert Kocharyan has said that
the repeal of Section 907 to the Freedom Support Act, which limits
American aid to Azerbaijan until the latter lifts its blockade on
Armenia and Nagornyy Karabakh, will do “irreparable damage” to the
Nagornyy Karabakh peace process. Robert Kocharyan spoke about this in a
letter to US President George Bush, the Armenian National Committee of
America told Mediamax today.

“Section 907 and the Turkish and Azerbaijani blockade of Armenia are
part of the comprehensive package of issues that need to be resolved.
The removal of one element will do irreparable damage to the peace
process,” the Armenian president said.
